(For A Saint)

Faith, a glimmering fountain, poured:
Love from evil's fetters torn--
(And this cage of shadowed flesh)

Oh God-- in all of us, all of us
The Word's seed alone bears life
(A promise that we have not deserved.)

And in the sudden stillness,
The realization comes.
Behold:

Sin's iron grasp, now broken,
And too, that harder heart--
(Remember)

The lamb of God, so holy, Jesus--
Tasted death
(For me.)

Romans 5:6-11 King James Version

6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
