THE STORM
Beneath the star-strewn heavens
The world collapses in clouds disarrayed:
Foolish dreams by God unspun
Unraveling, to rain.
Sad, and swift, this unfurling--
But in our yearning we must agree,
The bright return of Jesus
Shall make all deep waters, flee.
Thus, this whirling wind, a-turning
Fills our Father's purpose, full--
And we who behold, yet weeping
Reach for that heavenly pull--
And joy cascades, resplendent
Upon souls, in Christ so dear
Who hunger for his righteousness
And keep his mercy near--
Alighted with the word of truth
Though the way sometimes be dark--
Jesus carries us, in torrents
And comforts with his spark.
