For the Brethren *

 _________________

As grass that withers, swept away--
The world fades and shimmers low;
May peace be thine, my brethren
As only Christ's, can know.

For what foreknew such glory
Could be etched on earthy hearts?
His love lightens the shadow,
As grace the Word imparts.

The world may shake and shatter,
And oceans billows roar--
But high upon his mighty wing
The servant's prayers soar.

For this, the living sacrifice
These eyes, these hands, these tears--
Bowed before the throne of grace
Our Savior holds us, near.
