*ALMOST HOME

ALMOST HOME

The world falls far, yet farther down

Men call good, bad; and deem right wrong.

The simple ever bow to cry--

In deepening night: God watches by.

And harmless hearts yearn hard to go

The Spirit calls in silver tones.

And all the while, on bended knees

Souls tremble as God speaks.

And there comes singing, high, profound--

His golden wing flutters around.

The truth is written; please endure.

The world is grasped in majesty.

This is the thing: we ever long.

Sometimes there are God's tears in songs;

A harp yet spans the heavens by

As our Redeemer draweth nigh.
